In an effort to win Piper’s heart, Tucker formulates a plan to train Piper’s horse to victory, hoping to prove himself to her, her parents, and his own self-doubts. Review: This is a diverse romance about a woman in the horse racing world who get help from her best friend for the competition. I was really excited to read this book because racing and a cute romance, sign me up. But sadly this book was not it and I could tell from the beginning. I don’t like the whole “omg I love them” and they are both saying it right at the beginning. It was just hard to fall in love with the characters and connect with them when the story starts off like that. The storyline sounded better from the summary but we honestly didn’t get much of it in the book like I was hoping. It felt like there were too many plots in this book but not enough conclusion to it. I did like seeing how these two MCs try to get to the top in the derby and didn’t show fear when things went wrong.

Piper is the FMC of the story. I liked her character more than Tucker but I felt we didn’t get to know much about her. She did have a development but I wish we got more of her story. Then we have Tucker and this dude was all over Piper. He was okay but again I didn’t feel connected to him. The side characters in this book were great and I loved Tucker’s parents. I believe Tucker’s friends are the MCs of their own books in this series. The romance was friends to lovers where they instantly become a couple in the first couple of chapters. I don’t usually mind it but again, I wish we got to connect with the characters first.

The ending was okay but at that point I was kind of done with the book. I know many readers will love this book and it just wasn’t for me.
