A Reservoir Man by L.J. Ambrosio: Review

Rating: 4/5 stars

Spice: .5/5

Review: I enjoyed this book which is a coming of age story about a guy named Michael who has a eventful journey in his life where he learns about love, sex, death and more. This book was totally not what I expected when I saw the cover as I was thinking of a mystery but it did surprise me. The author has an incredible writing style and knows how to gets the reader’s attention. The setting, pacing, and plot was well structured and I enjoyed how there was a timeline along with each chapter. This story was kind of like reading an autobiography of someone’s life which I haven’t read in a while. One thing about the writing I do have to say is that the author doesn’t use a lot of pronouns. It’s always the character’s name and should have been “he, him, etc.”

The main character in this book is Michael and I enjoyed his character. You get his pov ever since he was born until his 50s which I thought was cool. He develops a lot throughout his years as you can see so much progression. There are also many side characters in this book where some will leave and new characters will appear which was different in a good way. I really loved Michael’s parents who were very supportive of him. There is romance in this book but it’s more of Michael finding out who he is with relationship and learning about sex.

The ending was sad but well done. This was an enjoyable book and I did have some minor problems. There were some scenes which I was confused about and the pronouns but overall a great read. I do recommend reading this book as readers especially men can learn so much from it. This book is a coming of age story where many readers will be hooked from page one.
